In our quest to create a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly guesthouse, we have implemented various eco-responsible practices at Blue Bergamote. Our commitment to a zero-plastic approach is at the core of our efforts. Here’s an overview of the measures we have put in place:

Solar Water Heating

To minimize our carbon footprint, we have installed solar water heaters. This renewable energy source not only reduces our reliance on fossil fuels but also ensures that our guests have access to hot water in an environmentally sustainable way.

Double Glazed Windows

The guesthouse is equipped with double glazed windows, which provide superior insulation. This helps maintain comfortable indoor temperatures throughout the year, reducing the need for additional heating or cooling and, consequently, our energy consumption.

Our terrace is lit at night by multiple light points that operate primarily on solar energy.

Waste Sorting

We take waste management seriously and have implemented a comprehensive sorting system. Guests are encouraged to participate in our recycling efforts, ensuring that materials such as paper, glass, and plastic are properly sorted and recycled.

Filtered Drinking Water

To eliminate the use of plastic bottles, we provide guests with filtered drinking water in reusable glass bottles. This initiative ensures that our guests have access to clean and safe water while significantly reducing plastic waste.

Basic Necessities

To make our guests’ stay more convenient while reducing waste, we offer essential items such as salt, pepper, sugar, olive oil, ground coffee, and oregano. These are available in communal areas, reducing the need for individual packaging.

Refillable Toiletries

In partnership with the Greek brand Papoutsinos, we offer shower gel and shampoo in refillable containers. This reduces single-use plastic and allows guests to enjoy high-quality products during their stay.

Towel and Linen Policy

In order to conserve water and energy, we change towels every three days and bed linens every five days. This policy helps us minimize our environmental impact while maintaining high standards of comfort and hygiene for our guests.
